4 out of 5 stars Way too much fun for the price!   February 20, 2010
D. Porter (UT USA)
Bought it, used it, love it. The other reviews tell you all you need to know about how it works. Let me tell you what I learned owning this item...

You are not interested in the temperature of items right now, if you buy the MT6 this will change. You will extend your little red finger of light into all sorts of places where it is not welcome to satisfy your own curiosity. Within hours you will be expert on the temperature of everything in your line of sight. You will experience a contentment that you never knew you were missing.

You will be tempted to share this knowledge with those closest to you. This you should not do.

Ignore my advice if you wish, but be warned that until I bought the MT6 I spent my evenings hanging out with my wife and friends. Now I spend my evenings writing reviews of infrared thermometers on amazon.com.

5 out of 5 stars essential tool for the homeowner   February 11, 2010
Mark Zimmer (southern Maine)
I bought this to find where I was leaking heat during the winter. What a great tool! I have found many uses, from balancing my radient heating system, to checking the temp of a skillet on the stove. The temp is extremely accurate, and has saved me many times the cost in savings.. You can shoot the ducts and balance the dampers in a hot air system as well. Very cool and very useful. Highly recommended and a good value!

5 out of 5 stars Works Great!   February 8, 2010

I use this style of thermometer at work and needed one for home use. The MT6 was a perfect choice. It does everything I need it to and is a great value, also.

5 out of 5 stars Nice thermometer for the price   February 5, 2010
Heath (Wichita, KS USA)
This thermometer has a wide temperature range and good accuracy for the price. This thermometer seemed to give a quick reading off of any surface, including running water and window glass. I understand that readings off of highly reflective surfaces will be less accurate. The first night I had it I surveyed my house and found that the old double paned aluminum framed windows are indeed where I'm losing the most heat. They read up to twenty deg F cooler than the walls while the couple of new low-E windows I had installed read only ten degrees cooler. The window film I had put on a couple of the old ones raised thier temperature to within three degrees of the new ones, so if you cannot afford new windows then the window film is probably worthwhile. My attic access is not as leaky as I thought, and my two sick and sleeping sons did have fevers. I checked them by reading my wife and my foreheads (90 and 91 deg F) then reading my son's foreheads while being careful to keep the laser away from their eyes in case they woke up. They read 94 and 95 deg F. Not as accurate a method as an ear thermometer, but effective and less likely to wake them. I like this thermometer!

5 out of 5 stars Rayteck MT6 - Real Cool Tool   January 28, 2010
shutterbug (California)
I got this to trace possible heat leaks in my hot water heating system, but I've found a million other uses for it. Accurate, reliable and inexpensive. BTW: I can trace my heat pipes thru 2-3 ft. of concrete slab - and it found the leak too!
